Job Training
A job seeker that comes through the doors of Employment & Training can
anticipate assistance from a Career Advisor in entering, re-entering, or
advancing in the labor market. Together you will develop an Employment Plan
that will enable you to set realistic and attainable goals. It is our job
to help you obtain the skills you need to secure meaningful employment.
Classroom Training
Whether you are currently unemployed, recently laid off, or are working,
you may need further vocational/skills training to meet the ever-changing
labor market needs in Western New York.
Some of the services that we can provide to assist you in pursuing a career
are:
- Career assessment including interest, abilities, and literacy testing
- Identification of existing skills and if they can transfer to a new industry
- Resume review and assistance
- Financial assistance to attend short-term (one year or less) vocational
skills training at a NYS
approved training institution
- Supportive services while attending classes, such as child care and transportation
allowances; books/supplies; uniforms and/or tools allowances
- Job placement assistance upon graduation

On-the-Job Training
This training program allows employers
to hire motivated workers. You as the new employee will receive the necessary
training directly from the employer. Niagara County Employment & Training
then reimburses the employer with a percentage of the wages paid during the
contracted training period.
