I'm still not sure what the Summer Youth Employment Program can do for ME?
We asked young people from the Summer Youth Program 2011 how they benefited from participating in the program and here's what some of them said:
- It helped to motivate me to work and get my own money
- It helped me learn new skills and was a good experience
- Everything about this program helped. I believe it will help me to get a regular job
- I was able to buy things that I needed.
- Taught me how the work place was and prepared me for my future career
- I had the benefit to learn about the children I worked with. The different home life of each one and their life style. I learned how to work with children of different age groups, I plan to become a teacher.
- It scheduled my summer and gave me job experience. I learned work ethic & how to work with people
- It helped me with my social skills. Working in the nursing home helped me understand about the elderly needs.
- It gave me an experience of what a real full time job is like. How to be responsible, be on time and get along with people you may not like.
